You can grow your own food. We can help.

Unity Garden

Unity Garden is an outreach project started by volunteer congregants of Unity Church of Overland Park in the fall of 2011. The garden is 15 minutes south of the church on donated land. We grow our vegetables by the no-till method, this is, we do not turn the soil surface. We build layers of organic material and allow Mother Nature to do the rest. In addition, we grow everything without the use of chemicals of any kind. We utilize the practice of companion planting, growing lots of different flowers and herbs to attract beneficial insects. We also have two beehives at the back of the property to increase our pollination. The food we grow is harvested and delivered to Head Start of Shawnee Mission in downtown Overland Park. Head Start is a
non-profit agency serving low income children and families in Johnson County, Kansas. They provide social services to low income families, including childhood education, day care centers, and early childhood education.
