You can grow your own food. We can help.

Swannanoa Community Garden

The Swannanoa Community Garden is one of many projects started by Friends and Neighbors of Swannano, a small non-profit group. It was initiated after a meeting with Manna Food Bank as a potential food source for our community.  Our goals include providing fresh produce for those in need, growing and expanding the garden and involving a diverse group of community members. We hope the garden will be a opportunity for food insecure people to learn how to grow and provide food for their families.

The community garden will provide food for a local food pantry and the Swannanoa Valley Christian Ministries. Many volunteers have already benefited from knowing that their hard labor will be appreciated by those less fortunate. Our many volunteers come from local schools, churches, community groups and summer camps. The garden provides the volunteers with the opportunity to interact and socialize with various members of their community. The garden offers people a chance to learn and share experiences.
