Sunrays in flowers project
The project was born out of a need to foster a sense of pride amongst the youth who live in the urban slums of Delft South. These impoverished youth are burdened with drug abuse(meth-addicted parents), Foetal alcohol syndrome, high incidents of tuberculosis, extremely high rates of HIV and aids deaths and physical and mental abuse.
We, the teaching staff came together and created a garden, an oasis in the dusty streets, that not only inspires creativity and ellicits greater academic thinking, but instils values and pride, and a will to improve our childrens lives,
KGI is a nonprofit community of over 30,000 people who are growing some of our own food and helping others to do the same.
