I'm super excited about this resource. Individuals growing more food will become the future in saving the environment and bringing back our relationship with food. I cannot wait to try out any recipes and tips to build my knowledge on this delightful and helpful subject!

Hey folks! I am really excited about this new resource. I am wondering if any of you existing school farms out there have any information on starting a garden committee? I am working with Whittier College to get their school garden up and running and I am wondering how many school gardens out there operate with or got started by a garden committee. Any resources (including who you should include, roles and responsibilities, length of time to allocate for planning process) would be incredibly helpful. I looked around the Resources section but didn't find anything on this topic.

Once again, I can't *share a photo.* The HELP graphics look only *similar* to what Safari displays. After UPLOAD, what is missing entirely is any way to complete the task with POST or SUBMIT. Please advise.

I live in Vancouver Canada, and I am currently trying to get a community farm built at my campus (Emily Carr University of art and design) ! I would love any suggestions, as to where to start. :)

Just canned 13 quarts of spicy garlic dill pickles and 6 pints of spicy garlic dilly beans. I looked long and hard for a canner that was compatible with my glass-topped stove, after reading stories online about cracking glass tops with a traditional granite ware canner. I settled on a 20 qt., stainless steel, flat bottomed water bath canner from The Biggest Little Kitchen Store. The person filling the order even called me to confirm that the diameter of the canner would work on the diameter of the elements on the stove top. Kudos to them! So far, so good. Canner and stove seem quite compatible. Next week, I'll be foraging blackberries for blackberry jam. And I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that we'll have some weather that will ripen tomatoes for a few pints of red goodness this winter.

This year I am working hard to 'clean as I go' in the garden, just as I do when I cook. Here's a blog post about this: http://baystatekitchengarden.blogspot.com/2012/09/the-harvest-continues-...

I'm sadly trying to find out what attacked my Yukon Gold potatoes. On the outside of the tubers, it looks like common scab, but the insides (and the stems) look like fusarium wilt. I'll take some pictures tomorrow in the daylight. Very Bummed in Colorado!

I am back, it has been a very busy time since I last posted. Hope everyone had a Wonderful Kitchen Garden day. That was also my 60th birthday, so I celebrated with my Husband, daughter and her fiancee by going out to a local restaurant that serves local food ( what a concept, huh?). Disappointed in the tomato crop this year but am getting a bumper crop of cucumbers, and have been busy fermenting them as well as other veggies, so far more Kvass, and a mixed batch with red onion, green beans, garlic, diakon and shiso. That one is delicious!
