While I'm on my sickbed with this awful bug that's going around, I get a little relief by thinking of our 2013 Escanaba SDA Community Service Center's Garden project. Last year was our First year at attempting a garden for our Food Pantry and I have to say that our attempt was blessed by God! EVERYTHING grew like crazy even in the HOT, DRY weather we had! The only things that didn't succeed were the few peas that we planted and the tomatoes. Sadly, only the few cherry tomatoes we planted were good. The rest all got Blossom End Rot. We're located in Escanaba, Michigan, zone 5 and our garden is on the church property of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. We have 14 raised beds that are 2'x30' made from cedar logs that were sawed and dried at a small local mill for the purpose of building a log home. They were donated to us by the widow of the mill owner after he had passed away. They were perfect for our use and a great place to sit while weeding/harvesting.
