This is a nice post about the satisfactions of garden keeping. I found that my attractive & effective composting setup was a compelling incentive to keep the garden fresh. Another incentive I've enjoyed is preparing the garden for your own new eyes. There's a story that Jacqueline Kennedy used to step out of the house after she prepared for a big event - and return as a guest.
