Does kgi have my account blocked? I have tried 7 times to upload the same sunflower image - front yard garden - & get a red box stating *not a valid url.* Now the Feedback tab is not working either. Please advise.
Are you trying to upload a photo stored on your computer or one that's already posted to the internet somewhere else? The error message suggests the latter, but I thought I'd check. You're clearly not blocked since you were able to post this status update. If it is posted to the web, can you provide a link in a reply so I can take a look?
Thanks, Roger - the photos I have posted & this latest one with *invalid url* were/are all on my computer. I am baffled with the change from just a few days ago ...
Here are some cues, or not, as the case may be - I tried again & noticed the newly displayed line under Browse re *images must be less than 100MB.* So I tested & my image was 1.25MB. I know nothing about how to make images smaller in MB. So I cropped it as much as possible in iPhoto without ruining & it tested 1MB. I went through the uploading process again & got the same red box *invalid url.* What are the Drupal specs on *smaller than 1MB*?
... oops *images must be less than 1MB* ...
OK I cropped the sunflower image again in iPhoto & it tested 708KB, or *smaller than 1MB.* I went through the uploading process for the 10th time. The kgi page showed it to me as visually in place, with the option *Remove.* I took a webpage picture of the page to prove it. :-) Can send. No red box with *invalid url* has appeared. Neither has my sunflower image appeared < yet > on kgi. Please advise.
No! I went back to try again. That line under Browse DOES say 100MB !!! ???
11th time @ 708KB gets a red box & *not a valid url.*
I just successfully uploaded a picture of a new trellis I built, so the upload feature is working. The fact that you're getting a "not valid url" error makes me think there might be human error involved ;-) . You can only upload a photo using a url if the photo is already posted to the internet and you know the exact location, e.g. www.mysite.com/tomatotrellis.jpg .
Accurately speaking, the upload is working for YOU. :-) You might want to consider that Drupal functions are created by humans, also subject to human error. My sunflower photo was taken by me & has never been online at any url - has lived it's entire life in my computer. Would I bother you with a mere computer -101 problemma?! :-)
I would love for you to try uploading another photo to see what happens. I want to be sure you can share everything you want to share!
Thanks, Roger - I will when I can, maybe this weekend. I used up ~ a month's kgi time in these OCD upload attempts. One thing I wonder is if anything changed in the kgi software since I uploaded the 1st two images as a normal experience? I am using a Mac G4 Titanium Powerbook with extra memory & no Intel chip. It plays all of Youtube, MIT videos, Swedish TV documentaries flawlessly - but will not load Flash or Chrome. It is in part my 3rd-world tech monitor ...
Hi Jessica! You could also check by logging in and do the same task(upload photo) from another computer,e.g. a public one. Then it would show whether it's Your machine or not,for Your computer would be out of the chain along with whatever it causes or not. Computers are a great exercise for our patience(these da...,fu......things!!!),Greetings,antonis.
Thank you for the creative commiseration, Antonis! But on a public computer any photos would be from a url & so not a direct comparison test I do intend to set up a blog for cross-posting - I see time maybe in the 2nd week of June - then I would have a url with my or selected photos :-) I do wonder if some software setting may have changed that eliminates non-Intel chip computers. Over at photo.net they have 600k global members & program new features so as not to exclude any of them. They were surprised how many photographers were logging in on old equipment. Facebook recently changed all their video play to Flash - so unless the YouTube link is also shown, their video is unavailable for per-Intel chip computers. With 900 million global accouts - I would love to know if they know how many can not view their videos now?
why would it go by URL? Of course, you would have the photo on an external storage device, such as an usb stick, which,by plugging it to the computer you are sitting on will become a browsable extension of it.Browsable by the window which opens when you click the >browse< option in the "photo" mask. Then click yourself through the files (on your computer) ,always within the browsing window, when you you find your photo(in the window) mark it by clicking on it and click >open<.The window is part of your OS and it's look will differ from mine. Also, it may name the option differently(other than >open<).The browse button in the "photo" mask is right between the "URL" and "UPLOAD" buttons.
Thank you antonis - until I have more time I will await any answer about any changes in the kgi website software. Why would the upload work one day and not a couple of days later? Right now my schedule is like a climb - almost to the top to see over. :-)
