I have my first crop of oranges at my home in Costa Rica. They are quite large and green but are easily twisted off and semi-soft to the touch. But every one I pick is completely dry inside and has very pale butter colored flesh. Are they too ripe or not ripe enough?
I have lived in orange groves in California for years & never seen or heard of anything like this. It sounds like a serious disease problem of some kind. I would recommend contacting your very best local extension-agent equivalent in Costa Rica to describe or observe this fruit condition. In what part of Costa Rica are you located?
