Just canned 13 quarts of spicy garlic dill pickles and 6 pints of spicy garlic dilly beans. I looked long and hard for a canner that was compatible with my glass-topped stove, after reading stories online about cracking glass tops with a traditional granite ware canner. I settled on a 20 qt., stainless steel, flat bottomed water bath canner from The Biggest Little Kitchen Store. The person filling the order even called me to confirm that the diameter of the canner would work on the diameter of the elements on the stove top. Kudos to them! So far, so good. Canner and stove seem quite compatible. Next week, I'll be foraging blackberries for blackberry jam. And I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that we'll have some weather that will ripen tomatoes for a few pints of red goodness this winter.
