You can grow your own food. And we can help!

Stark Fresh Community Garden

This will be the second year of Stark Fresh. In the year of 2013 we successfully created a "backyard campaign" with felt container gardens that served over 50 families. Through these we roughly created 500lbs and over of edible food. Although this past year was Stark Freshs first year, it is part of a bigger project that started in 2011 with the Corridor Farmers' Market. The file I included is a summary of history and needs of the overall projects.

The project targets North East Canton, Ohio. Which is defined by the USDA as a "Food Desert". In, the past year, Stark Freshs efforts have been succesful, but, with that being said,  it will take a few more years, and more support from orginizations like KGI for it to be effective in the sense that North East Canton will no longer be considered a  "Food Desert".

So far, this year Stark Fresh has gained support from local community partners like Mercy Medical Center, PNC Bank, and Sisters of Humility of Mary. Our team belives that what we are doing is a revolution into a new era of becoming a happy and healthy society. It starts by purging out ignorance, that is conventional eating and excursiing habits, which Stark Fresh would be helping to reduce by re-educating the community on what makes someone "healthy".
