I have a great growth of grapes in my garden(first time) but I do not know when to cut them for use at home and as gifts.Should they be cut raw or allowed to ripen on the plant?

I am no grape expert, but since I never see green, pre-ripe grapes in the markets, I am going to guess that grapes need to be picked, used & appreciated quite close to their vine-ripening time. Please let us know what you do. Your garden environment sounds heavenly.
