You can grow your own food. And we can help!

Plant-A-Row Improvement Project

The Winnemucca Community Garden provides space, seeds and tools for community members to garden. We teach the community & school groups through workshops and special events. The garden has themed areas for children, butterflies, fire prevention, and native landscaping. We sponsor a Farmers Market and organize a Plant a Row for the Hungry campaign to increase community food security. Most of the food we donate is grown in a designated area known as the "Plant-A-Row For the Hungry" section. This P.A.R. area is, as of now, a simple plot of land with minimal soil amendments & yields small amounts of crops. Gardening in northern Nevada can be exceptionally difficult especially in our area where the Garden sits on nutrient deplete soil & we struggle to produce adequate crops. Our desire is to produce more crops to help improve the food security of our small town & have a positive effect on more families in need. We hope to accomplish this by building raised & covered garden beds that will be able to yield more much needed fresh, local, organic produce.
