Palm Harbor Montessori School Garden

An established hydroponics garden can allow Montessori teachers to teach lessons through the lens of the garden. School gardens provide opportunities for students to experience the intricacies of life and the life cycle. The Montessori Method strives to stimulate the cognitive, emotional, physical and social sides of children. Gardening is the perfect task engaging all of these within one experience. This grant will allow the school hydroponics program to get running again and provide the school an opportunity to work with a local nonprofit organization that can help support the school's program for the next three years and beyond. The garden program will reach out to both families and communities to volunteer and donate to the gardening program. Once resources for garden are secured, Palm Harbor Montessori and People Educating People, Inc. will reach out to families and community members to come out and help install garden. This experience will provide an opportunity to secure community/family volunteers for garden upkeep and encourage family members to think more about their gardening/ food choices.
