This year I am working hard to 'clean as I go' in the garden, just as I do when I cook. Here's a blog post about this: http://baystatekitchengarden.blogspot.com/2012/09/the-harvest-continues-...
This is a nice post about the satisfactions of garden keeping. I found that my attractive & effective composting setup was a compelling incentive to keep the garden fresh. Another incentive I've enjoyed is preparing the garden for your own new eyes. There's a story that Jacqueline Kennedy used to step out of the house after she prepared for a big event - and return as a guest.
