Volunteers in horticulture

I am a Master Gardener (ie trained volunteer). Aging is only one problem. Many MG organizations are stuck in their original structure. They have not embraced social media to promote events. They often preach to the choir, especially on their websites (assuming they even have one.) And most importantly, they need to roll up their sleeves and start teaching more IN THE GARDEN. Younger people want to get their hands dirty... building community gardens, planting trees, rescuing native plant colonies... Master Gardeners have to get out there and show them how rather than presenting slides to horticultural groups, which are also aging.
