You can grow your own food. And we can help!

Mountain View Community Garden

The Roanoke Community Garden Association’s Mountain View Community Garden will provide garden plots for families, individuals, and other Roanoke residents, and enable the gardeners to grow their own fresh produce. This garden's construction will be completed in January 2014 and is RCGA’s largest garden yet. The Mountain View Community Garden is home to a variety of amenities including handicap accessible beds, approximately 50 raised garden beds, trellises for vertical climbing plants, local artwork from high school students, an Amish-constructed pavilion, and some very busy honeybees. Our gardeners are typically low to medium income families and immigrants who don’t have land of their own to grow food. RCGA provides all the resources a gardener might need including the space, soil, tools, seeds, water, and community support. Moreover, RCGA provides these resources and a basic gardening and nutrition education to our community in the hopes that each resident will understand the immediate and long-term benefits of eating local food and being active in a community.
