Keansburg Community Garden

The Center for Community Renewal (CCR) became Keansburg New Jersey's central  hub for food support after Hurricane Sandy hit the Jersey Shore over one year ago. The CCR has a food pantry and serves continental breakfast and a hot lunch seven days a week and the center has seen it's numbers grow exponentially over the past year, doubling from 306 people served in July to 661 people served this past October.

The Keansburg Community Garden was started last summer as a way to engage the community in getting outside to learn about healthy food systems through gardening, as well as to supplement the ingredients used at the CCR with local and organic options.

Our first year was very successful growth wise, and we hope to be able to expand production and educational programing, especially with young people in 2014.
