You can grow your own food. We can help.

Kadampa Meditation Center

Our project is to develop a World Peace Garden as part of our overall Buddhist Temple project. The temple and gardens are dedicated to the peace and happiness of all beings and are therefore open to all. In general we aim to create a 1.77 acres oasis of beauty that inspires peace in those who visit. If each person carries peace in their heart, then they carry peace into the world. In particular, by working with the Baltimore Orchard Project we intend use our land in a compassionate way.  We will use the fruit in the food we prepare for those that visit and attend the temple and donate it to those in need in the greater community through partering with local non-profit community groups.  Compassion is a core tenent of Buddhist practice and we see that  offering what is harvested to those in need is a practice of compassion.  A third goal is to promote the importance of a healthy environment through caring for the earth in a responsible manner. Through promoting the values of respect for the environment, compassion for all, and peace as exmplified by what we create, we hope to make a positive contribution the citizens of the greater Baltimore area and to the world as a whole.
