You can grow your own food. And we can help!

Lisa M. rents 2 of our raised beds to grow vegetables to help feed her extended family. There is too much shade at her home to do so. Because she can grow her own vegetables organically, she knows she has better nutrition than she could otherwise afford. She has also been able to make sure her pregnant daughter is eating well. Lisa is also teaching her grandchildren to love eating vegetables. Her 11 year old grandson will eat a quart of her cherry tomatoes in one sitting.

Our KGI grant money allowed us to install an automatic drip irrigations system. This means we will have more even soil moisture. We will be watering the soil and not the plants so we should have fewer disease problem. All this means more fresh vegetables for the food pantry clients.
