HAB Community Garden

The Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church, also known as HAB, Community Garden will provide nourishment for the body and soul. United Community Outreach Ministry (UCOM), our neighborhood food pantry, will be the direct beneficiary of the harvest from the Garden. The goal is to provide a steady flow of fresh produce to families and individuals in our community that do not have the means to get them. The Garden will also provide a gathering place for the church and the community to enjoy, either to help out with garden chores or just enjoy the beauty and tranquility of the Garden. HAB Church wants to give back to the community that gave us great comfort and support during a time of sadness and need. On December 23, 2007, our sanctuary burned to the ground. The community immediately embraced us with sympathy and support. We held Christmas Eve services in the gymnasium, and the service was greatly attended by church members and the community. It was inspiring and humbling to receive the outpouring of love and support. This Garden would be a means to give back to the community that gave us so much.
