Gardenship Brusnica

Earthship Serbia for one and the half-year is working on educating people in sustainable living and permacuture. Our organization was the first who brought Permaculture Design Course in this country Serbia, Eastern Europe, officially certified fifty people and recruited more than one hundred. As formal and informal group, we were helping on four gardens (community and demonstration gardens) in a different ways:  volunteering, labor, educating, demonstrating, connecting people …

Main target group of our gardening actions and education is unemployed people in all ranges of ages and social positions. Our country is dealing with this lack of jobs problem more than 20 years and standing on a third place of unemployment in Europe, leaving 30% of people to find a solution how to survive.

Also as a country with a lot of abandoned and uncultivated land, our goal is to bring back people to the land and tout them for organic farming so they can use that advantage of oodles unpolluted land.

Demonstration garden “Gardenship Brusnica” is located in Brusnica, rural place of Central Serbia, and involve local and regional community in various workshops: making underground green house, mulching, composting, maintenance of a vegetables, etc. On the spot there is one demonstration garden but we want to expand our educational tool on undergroud greenhouse. After, participiants, will be able to start their own or community garden or make a greenhouse of recycling materials so unemployed can supply their families with food all year round.
