You can grow your own food. And we can help!

The Garden at St. Mark's

The Garden at St. Mark’s is an organic garden on the grounds of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in North Bellmore, NY.  Our mission is to have the church and community working together to enhance the environment through organic farming and to serve as a ministry to bring healthy and nutritious food to those less fortunate.  In our first three seasons, we have been able to serve some of the approximately 13,000+ clients at the Long Island Council of Churches Food Pantry in Freeport, NY, through our partnership with its chaplain, Reverend Wally Merna.  We have donated more than 4000 pounds of produce from The Garden. We also serve 100+ customers at our farm stand each Sunday during the season, some 40 of whom are regulars who are overjoyed with the purity of our vegetables and are looking forward to next season.
On October 29, 2012, this entire area was devastated by Superstorm Sandy, and, as a result, many more families and individuals have come to the food pantry. Even after more than 14 months since this devastation, there are many who are still without their homes and a regular source of food. People have lost everything and are still trying to recover both here in our own community and throughout Long Island.
