Community Farmyard and Greenhouse

Aspen TREE's Community Farmyard is an education, destination, and demonstration garden and farmyard six miles from downtown Aspen, Colorado. It operates as an education center for nearly 650 students (primarily youth) annually, 50% of which attend programs on scholarship. This last fall, a four season's tropical community greenhouse dome was constructed on the farmyard. During construction, nearly 80 volunteers helped to clear the land and build the dome, which opened nearly 2500 square feet of new gardening area! With the generous support of KGI, this 2500 square feet can expand our demonstration gardens such that students in Aspen TREE's programs and on field trips can eat fresh produce while learning about sustainability (and even cook some on our parabolic solar cooker!).
