Common Ground Farm Children's Garden

The Common Ground Farm Children’s Garden is a small area with raised beds at the entrance to the fields of the Farm.  CGF is a community food project that serves to feed the Beacon and Wappingers, NY communities through donation, a wholesale mobile market, and other projects; while providing educational opportunities to children, adults, and prospective farmers.  The Children’s Garden was established in the spring of 2012 to provide hands-on educational opportunities for children in our preschool, afterschool, and summer camp programs.  The garden also provides a pleasant, relaxing space for families, workers  and volunteers at Common Ground Farm.  It is adjacent to the farm’s longstanding perennial garden.  This grant opportunity would allow CGF to join the two gardens and ultilize the larger area more effectively  to repair the trellises at the entrance, and maintain the garden throughout the growing season.  The work is all carried out by volunteers and educators with the help of the children.
