Farm fresh strawberries of Chak Shahzad . Fresh strawberries of Chak Shahzad farms are gaining popularity in Islamabad. To boast sale some strawberry farmers are offering drive in and hand picking the straw berries. Strawberry production increased manifold in Pakistan during recent years as Pakistani people taste switched from traditional fruits over to strawberry. Pakistan is producing a limited quantity of strawberries, which are either eaten or used in preparing ice cream, jam, jelly, pickle, cake or milk shake. The fruit fetches Rs. 200 (1 dollar=Rs.85) to Rs150 per kg in big cities The crop production touches its peak during the second week of March. Its saplings are mostly obtained from nurseries located in Mingora and Madayen (NWFP) in Swat district. Happy strawberry season ! Enjoy!
