An Ocean Apart

Mar 11, 2011

I live on the Oregon coast and we are so lucky, and thankful, to report that our stretch of ocean shore was left unharmed by today's tsunami.  There are others on the other side of our shared ocean however, not as lucky.  I wonder if we have any Japanese gardeners on this site, and if so perhaps they will share their experience here.  We in Oregon are thinking of you on this very difficult day.

Perhaps it will seem off-topic as not strictly gardening, but the experience kept reminding me today that we are all part of a larger community.  Today the "I" in Kitchen Gardeners International stands out for me.

Our hearts and prayers are with Japanese people. Japan is a great nation , and its hard working people will soon put the country back on its feet.
