CIEDM Meetup on 2011 National Honey Bee Day

Event Program Objectives: Contining our effort in participating the Great Sunflower Project, in addition to our National Pollinator Week event in June, CIEDM is holding another Meetup on Saturday August 20 to celebrate the National Honey Bee Day. Several organizations are spearheading actions to inform the public about Colony Collapse Disorder, CIEDM engages the free Meetup for the purpose to serve as a local activity in supporting the national action and to raise public awareness of August 20 being the National Honey Bee Day/National Honey Bee Awareness Day. Date/Time: 10 am-1 pm, Saturday, 20 August 2011 Place: Arcadia Ecohome, Arcadia, California 91006 Sponsor: CIEDM. Contact: Dr. Edward Huang, AICP, CGBP, LEED AP; email: ciedmeco@gmail.com Program Description: Dr. Edward Huang ??? will first discuss with the attendants about the Colony Collapse Disorder, vanishing of the bees & its impacts on food production, introduce the organizations sponsoring the national movement to save honeybees as well as the need for building a pollinator friendly environment. Then he will provide a tour of the yard of Arcadia EcoHome, a Green Point Rated building. Various pollinate friednly features will be presented during the tour of the yard which is a National Wildlife Federation certified Wildlife Habitat, a Surfrider Foundation's Ocean Friendly Garden, and a Victory Garden registered with Victory Garden Foundation.
