Making the "LINC" Between Gardens and Vocational Training

Jul 01, 2014

We have been most busy. At LINC, we have been using the Square Foot Gardening method to maximize production, minimize water and seed use and be able to intensively plant maximizing the limited space we have. We were able to use the grant proceeds to fund many additional 4x4 squares. In the pictures you will see basil and tomatoes growing. In addition to the additional squares, we invested in 3 yards of soil mix as a quick start for our growing season and the purchase of three pounds of red wiggler worms to jumpstart the vermicomposting operation that will ensure a great soil and growing medium for years to come.  LINC, Inc. residents have been involved with the urban farm and are learning daily how to maximize efficiency, production and create income streams through the urban farm business model. These lessons allow them to both transition and transform themselves to better serve the needs of others and themselves.   We are grateful for the generosity extended by KGI that allows LINC to better serve our residents and the community.
