Inspiring a love for kale

Jun 30, 2014

Shown here, devouring his "6 plant part" salad, is Marty. Marty is kale's biggest fan, thanks to our school garden at Hollis Elementary. Every recess time, Marty comes zipping into the garden, asking "kale? kale?" He eats in raw by the handful, with gusto. Luckily, there is plenty cropping up in our raised beds. This spring, he told me about his new garden at home. He was excited to announce that he would be growing kale of his very own. It is my hope that he never lets go of this love for dark leafy greens, and continues to garden into adulthood.
