Greenhouse comes to Long Creek

Jun 26, 2014

Thanks to your generous grant, the Long Creek Green Growers bought and completed construction of a 10 by 12 foot greenhouse kit.  The Carpenters Union of Southern Maine came in on the Day of Caring and worked with several students to put this together in record time.  The last few steps were put off and two of the ventilation got a bit damaged. One of the students who is mechanically inclined managed to repair the damage and has been very proud of the work he did.

In addition to repairing the greenhouse, he has put forth great amount of effort and time into tending to the garden including rototilling, weeding, planting, and harvesting. He is very proud of all the work he has done and often speaks of his efforts to his peers. When he is released from Long Creek, he looks forward to using his skills helping his aunt with her garden.
