The Food Bank of South Jersey's Community Garden is gradually coming along. While we have had to delay our "Garden Work Day" a few times, this has not halted the amazing support we are receiving from the community. So, far, the garden has helped the FBSJ engage more community members who are garden-enthusists and would not have volunteered with the FBSJ otherwise. This garden project has also helped the FBSJ build relationships with new companies, like MAFCO Worldwide, who donated licorice mulch for the project. We look forward to JUly, when our garden will really begin to come together! All of our supplies are scheduled to arrive by the first week of July, just in time for a Cooking Matters for Kids class that will be taking place in our demonstration kitchen. We will give the children enrolled in the class the opportunity to plant herbs, peppers, and seeds for the lettuces in the new garden beds.
KGI is a nonprofit community of over 30,000 people who are growing some of our own food and helping others to do the same.
