KGI Grant Helps Our Gardens Heal Those in Need
Healing Gardens Cooperative in Glastonbury, UK was really happy to receive the funding from Kitchen Gardeners International. We have a growing number of members of the Healing Gardens who are recovering from trauma and serious health issues and are very happy from the support that Kitchen Gardens International have given us, which has supported our work here. It has allowed us to continue to build our presence in the community. We offer relaxation, connection with nature and recently we have launched a 'pick your own' project where people can help themselves weekly for a very small investment.
Juliet Yelverton is passionate about bringing good health to the community and has herself found the gardens that have been cooperatively created, an enormous resource. Despite her very busy life, running Healing Waters Sanctuary and working with people suffering from trauma, she enjoys every available moment in the gardens, growing for the community. It is her safety valve from the intense work and focus that she gives her clients. Juliet says that the grant funded extra tools for the gardens and also helped with the sign that beckons people to the Healing Gardens. Recently we had an Open Day and people were able to easily find us thanks to the sign. It resulted in new members joining.
KGI is a nonprofit community of over 30,000 people who are growing some of our own food and helping others to do the same.
