Clean Water & Healthy Food
August is the National Water Quality Month, and August 4-10 is the National Farmers Market Week. Happy NWQM 2013 & NFMW 2013!
Clean water is the necessity for vegetables and fruit trees to grow and grow with healthy produce for consumption by human & other beings. Farmers market is a key infrastructure for supporting local food and urban farming movements. Fortunately, farmers market are growing in numbers significantly. As of August 3, 2013, 8,144 farmers markets are now listed in USDA's National Farmers Market Directory, up from about 5,000 in 2008.
At CIEDM, I'll participate in these special sustainability events by informing & promoting them at my lectures & field workshops on August 8-16 to a urban planning & design delegation from Tianjin, China, visiting Los Angeles & other West Coast cities.
KGI is a nonprofit community of over 30,000 people who are growing some of our own food and helping others to do the same.
