Boys & Girls Club Community Garden is Expanding!

Jul 15, 2014

The kids have been working hard planting, weeding, and watering.  Currently, the Garden Club is preparing a plot for a pumpkin patch. We're getting ready to build an outdoor classroom area by resurfacing tables, applying finish to benches, laying mulch, and organizing a second shed for the Garden Club.  The members have used the produce from the garden in our kitchen, learning how to make strawberry shortcake, rhubarb jam, eggplant and zucchini pizza, and more.  Once the harvest season hits full swing, our members will set up a Club Farmer's Market to learn about the entrepreneurial side of farming, and will inform other youth and their families about healthy eating.  Remaining produce will be donated to a local food pantry.
