You can grow your own food. We can help.

BCOPE Garden Project

BCOPE’s most important service to both the community and its students is a significant increase in high school graduation rates in Waldo County. Students who struggle in other schools, whether due to instability at home, learning disabilities, addiction, poor health, or otherwise – have a unique opportunity to succeed at BCOPE, provided they have the desire and the drive. BCOPE’s action-based learning initiative includes the garden project, which also provides the school with an important healthy food source for students who often do not have enough to eat at home. Students at BCOPE participate in all aspects of the school's food program - from sowing the seeds to cooking the vegetables, and everything in between! They gain valuable skills, knowledge, and most importantly, a connection with the greater Waldo County community. This connection is achieved as we seek out external support, advice, and offer our surplus to those with needs even greater than those of many of our students.
